I was born and raised in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio. I attended several schools before obtaining my bachelors degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from The Ohio State University. After graduation in 1987 my fiance (now my wife) Wendy and I moved to Raleigh. My first teaching job was at West Cary Junior High School teaching seventh grade social studies. The next year I moved to Fuquay-Varina Middle School and for the next four years again taught seventh grade social studies. I then moved up to Fuquay-Varina High School were for three years I taught ninth grade Economics, Law, and Politics, and eleventh grade U.S. History. I am currently going to school full time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earning a masters in school administration.

I have two wonderful parents, Barbara and John, an older brother Art and a younger brother Dave. I am blessed with a beautiful two and a half year old daughter Casey and my wife and I are awaiting the birth of our son at the end of April. Most likely he will be born during finals week. I'm not surprised; that it seems is when everything is due.
