Sylvia A. Mason
Biographical Sketch
Sylvia is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. Currently residing in the
Triangle area, she is an Ed.D student at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. Her Major is Educational Leadership. She received her
bachelors degree from Appalachian State University and her Master's at
North Carolina Central University. She is employed at Saint Augustine's
College as an Assistant Professor of Education and also serves as the
Program Chair for Special Education.
Prior to moving to the collegiate level, she was a teacher and
administrator in the public schools for fifteen years. In addition to her
academic duties, she has also served as an Education Consultant to the
O'Berry Center in Goldsboro. In her "free time", she works with
LEA's within the state providing in-service. Her areas of speciality are
Materials and Manipulatives for the Classroom Teachers, Team Building,
Conflict Resolution and her favorite Special Populations.
Sylvia's career aspirations are to become an associate superintendent for
special programs or to be involved in policy development for programs for
special populations at the national level.
